All students in grades K-5 are assessed three times throughout the school year in math fluency and application of math concepts. Mrs. Disney, one of our district's Math Specialists, travels between Lincoln and Longfellow to provide math interventions for students in grades 3-5. She reviews the assessment data and works with classroom teachers to closely monitor students' grades and classroom performance. If a student falls below established expectations throughout the year, our Math Specialist provides additional instruction to support their learning. This instruction does not replace their classroom instruction but provides another layer of support for the student. Our Math Specialist uses research-based interventions that focus on the needs of the students. This more individualized instruction takes place within a small group setting in the Specialist's classroom and progress monitoring occurs bi-weekly to help measure each students' progress.
