Mrs. Disney

Hi!  My name is Rachel Disney and I am incredibly excited to be an elementary math interventionist for the Marion Unit 2 School District. I truly enjoy working with students at the elementary level, on a subject that I am very passionate about!  It’s extremely rewarding to see my students develop an appreciation for and succeed in a subject area that may have intimidated them in the past!

Just a little bit about me…I was born and raised on a farm in Jacksonville, IL.  When I graduated high school, I moved to Southern Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education in December 2004.  After graduation, I was hired as a 6th grade math and science teacher in Chester, IL.  I taught there for one year and was then hired by Marion Unit 2, where I taught 6th grade math for 6 years at Marion Junior High School.   I then switched to the elementary level, teaching 3rd grade for 4 years, 4th grade for one year, and junior high math for one year at Adams School.  In December of 2011, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Administration through McKendree University.  Finally, in 2018, I began teaching in my current position as a math interventionist at Lincoln and Longfellow Schools, and I LOVE it!  I married my husband, Adam Disney, an 8th grade History teacher at MJHS, in 2008 and we have a beautiful daughter named Mazie who was born in 2010 and attends Longfellow School!
