  • About the Teacher

Hello, my name is Elizabeth Hileman. I attended John A. Logan and Southern Illinois University where I earned by BS in English from the College of Education and Human Services.  I recently earned my Master's Degree in Educational Studies with an emphasis in Reading from Mckendree University. I am entering my 10th year of teaching.

When I am not teaching, I read novels, watch musicals, and spend time with my three dogs (Oshie, Julie, and Cookie). If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

English I

  • Freshman literature is an introduction to the high school English program. It bridges the gap between eighth grade “reading” and high school “literature,” a step students often find difficult to make. In English I students must learn to read in depth. Students will also be expected to write more objective, academic themes. M.L.A. documentation will be introduced. Critical thinking and writing as a process will be emphasized.
